Notice for students studying Communication at SLCC followed by a Communication major at the University of Utah:
Communication is the #1 major at the University of Utah .
COMM faculty at SLCC have worked out a cooperative agreement with COMM at the U of UT.
This is a good deal for SLCC COMM students, and easy to do. This automatically transfers students into the U COMM Dept. as declared majors.
SLCC COMM majors get higher priority for enrollment, along with other perks.
Otherwise, transfer students must take 9 hrs at the U before even applying to their Dept.
What you need to do:
Earn a COMM degree at SLCC
Earn at 3.2 GPA (cumulative or COMM class cumulative, either way), and
Complete the one credit-hour class, TIG (Transfer Interest Group), COMM 3060, offered by the U COMM Dept. and taught by Dr Norm Elliott. This class is taught spring semester at the SLCC Taylorsville-Redwood campus. Reduced tuition is available for SLCC students. You need not apply to the U before taking COMM 3060.
Complete these steps and you are automatically transferred into the U COMM Dept. as a declared major.
If you have any questions, contact any SLCC COMM faculty member or Dr Elliott a the U.
